An ORCID (Open Researcher and Contributor ID) is a unique digital identifier associated with a researcher to aid in research output discovery, eliminate name ambiguity, and encourage proper citations. A number of funding agencies, including NIH and NSF, use ORCID in the proposal submission process. In this online session from University Libraries, learn about the benefits of ORCID, find out how to get one for yourself, and learn tips and shortcuts for populating your record.

Survival Skills: Formatting Information for Analysis

Provided by the University of Oklahoma. Spreadsheets and data tables are tools to store and organize information collected from scholarly research or administrative projects, teaching, or class work. Whether you are exporting the data to other programs (such as R or Python) or keeping it in your spreadsheet program (such as Excel, Numbers, or LibreOffice), good organization is the key to making your tables useful for analysis or reference.
By the end of this workshop, you should be able to:
- Implement better practices in data and information organization
- Identify and address common formatting mistakes, including handling dates, numbers, and text
- Be aware of basic quality control features
- Effectively export data from spreadsheet programs to universal formats

Indigenous Data Sovereignty: The Elements of CARE

Provided by The Ohio State University. Indigenous peoples and communities have long been creators, users, and keepers of data. Join our panel of experts as they explore the ways Indigenous communities currently use scientific data as tools of care. From genomic data to ecological data and sociological data, they share how information is used to push for sovereignty and self-determination.
This event will be held both online and in-person at the Research Commons. It is open to student, faculty, and staff researchers from all disciplines, including those outside of Ohio State.
