Nominations for Recognition of Excellence Awards

The annual Recognition of Excellence Awards honors distinguished alumni and friends of the College of Arts and Sciences who have demonstrated outstanding achievement and service to their profession or to society. Recipients join an esteemed group of honorees who are leaders in industry, the arts, nonprofits, and government.

Awards Categories

Here is the criteria for each award category:

  • Criteria
    • Demonstrated outstanding commitment to the college (corporation, foundation, institution or non-alumnus individual)
    • Significant contributions to the college's growth and development. 
    • Measurable IMPACT. 
  • Description: The Distinguished Service Award honors a corporation/foundation, or an individual who has shown distinguished service to or on the college's behalf. This award recognizes those who have made a lasting impact on the college's success through their leadership, contributions, and dedication. 
  • Criteria:
    • Notable achievements in their field of expertise.
    • Demonstrated commitment to community service.
    • Exemplary representation of the college's values and mission. 
  • Description: The Distinguished Alumni Award recognizes a graduate who has achieved remarkable success in their chosen field, demonstrated a commitment to community service, and embodied the core values and mission of the college. This award honors alumni who serve as inspirations for current and future generations of students.
  • Criteria
    • Excellence in teaching, research, and service.
    • Impactful contributions to the academic and professional development of students.
    • Positive influence on the college and its community. 
  • Description: The Distinguished Faculty Award celebrates an outstanding faculty member for their exceptional contributions to teaching, research, and service. This award acknowledges their dedication to fostering a dynamic learning environment and shaping the future of students within the college. 
  • Criteria
    • Notable achievements in their field of expertise.
    • Demonstrated commitment to community service.
    • Exemplary representation of the college's values and mission.
    • Must be within 10 years of their graduation date.
  • Description: The Young Alumni Award recognizes a graduate who has achieved remarkable success in their chosen field within 10 years of their graduation date, demonstrated a commitment to community service, and embodied the core values and mission of the college. This award honors alumni who serve as inspirations for current and future generations of students. 
  • Criteria: Recognizes individuals for outstanding contributions and advocacy in service to the college, advancing the mission and enhancing the lives of current students. 
  • Description: The Dean's Award applauds exemplary individuals for their outstanding contributions and advocacy in service to the college. This award is not open for nominations and honored at the Dean’s discretion.
