Preparation for a Life On Stage, Screen and Beyond

The B.A. in Theatre with Concentration in Performance is a specialized program of study that provides solid preparation for the professionally-focused undergraduate actor who wants to develop their talent to confidently enter the professional arena and/or continue their education in a graduate training program. A carefully constructed sequence of courses will assist actors in developing their technique, creativity, collaborative skills, and artistic vision. The Concentration in Performance offers a wealth of opportunity for theatre majors to gain acting experience in a wide range of genres while undertaking in-depth training in the actor’s craft. This special concentration will appear on your official transcript.  



Features of the Performance Concentration


Roles in Our Production Program

Our theatre program produces several mainstage productions per year, as well as laboratory productions in our black box theatre and student-directed works produced by our independent student ensemble. Students will have the opportunity to audition for all productions and collaborate with MFA Acting students. 

In-Depth Training

Studio classes include:
•   fundamentals of acting onstage and for the camera;
•   voice;
•   movement;
•   physical acting and ensemble devising;
•   advanced courses in scene study, film acting, and heightened text and style. 

 

Faculty Mentorship

Each student works with a faculty advisor throughout their course of study for regular assessments and post-graduate planning and advice.
