Piano for Children

The University of South Carolina’s Center for Piano Studies offers private piano lessons and group classes for children of all ages, levels, and learning needs. Our experienced instructors help young musicians build strong musical foundations while encouraging a love of learning, artistic expression and personal achievement.

The Center for Piano Studies offers two main program options for children: the Young Artist Comprehensive Piano Program and the Young Musician Private Piano Study Program.

YA Comprehensive Years 1-2: Little Keys

Little Keys is the first level of our Young Artist Comprehensive Piano Study Program. Designed for students ages 5-7 in their first two years of piano study, our inclusive program offers weekly keyboard skills group classes, weekly private lessons, multiple performance opportunities, and personalized practice supports at no extra cost. YA Comprehensive Years 3-6: Developing Artist

Developing Artist is the second level of our Young Artist Comprehensive Piano Study Program, designed for students in years 3-6 of piano study. Students receive weekly private lessons, weekly keyboard skills group classes, multiple performance and competition opportunities, and personalized practice support at no extra cost. YA Comprehensive Years 7+: Junior Artist

Junior Artist is the third level of our Young Artist Comprehensive Piano Study Program, designed for students who have been studying piano for at least six years. Junior Artists receive weekly hour-long private lessons, regular masterclasses, the most performance and adjudication opportunities of any level of the program, and personalized ear-training, music theory, and practice supports. Young Musician Private Piano Study Program
