Program Description
25 weekly 45-minute group classes, 26 weekly 30-minute private lessons, and two recitals*
This two-semester program is ideal for students in kindergarten, 1st grade, and 2nd grade. The academic year includes weekly group lessons, in which the children explore new concepts together, perform music, and participate in dynamic, musical activities. Weekly private lessons offer individualized attention, tailored goals, and personalized practice assignments.
The children will perform in the semester recitals in December and May, and may also participate in the CMTA Achievement Day at an additional cost of $20. Enrollment is for the duration of the academic year, September through early May.

Eligibility
To be eligible for Little Keys, students must be enrolled in K5, 1st grade, or 2nd grade, and must be able to read simple words and write basic numbers and letters. Students with prior study may transfer into the program, pending an interview to ensure correct placement.
Student piano requirement: Acoustic piano (preferred) or 88-key digital piano with stand and bench
Practice requirement: 30 minutes a day, five days a week

Private lessons will be scheduled in consultation with the private instructor. Classes will be enrolled on a first-come, first-served basis.
Class Content
During weekly private lessons, students establish the foundations of technique, rhythm, pitch, and music reading in a one-on-one setting.
In weekly group lessons, students further explore new concepts together, perform music, and participate in activities designed to increase abilities in music fundamentals, such as listening skills, music theory, and creative music-making.
