Pursue your passion for theatrical performance in our Music Theatre concentration and enhance your music major with additional arts and sciences courses.
A bachelor of arts in music with a concentration in musical theatre is especially for students who want to combine vocal performance, acting and dance. Students benefit from rich musical resources, including a rehearsal space, costumes, props and set, computer music studios, extensive music library collection and a state-of-the-art recording studio. An audition is required.
Receive applied instruction in the various styles of musical theatre and participate in a musical theatre ensemble.
Gain the ability to evaluate moral issues and respect, understand and evaluate works in a variety of disciplines.
Music entrepreneurship, audio recording and music industry minor programs are also possibilities for additional study.
Learn to think, speak and write clearly and effectively and address culture and history from a variety of perspectives.
What You’ll Study
Complete core education courses in communication, global citizenry, history, humanities, ethics and information literacy. Study music courses in theory, history, aural skills, music electives and ensembles. In lieu of a cognate or minor, students in the musical theatre concentration complete 18 credit hours of dance and theatre courses. Juried vocal exams required.
